Mindfulness can be cultivated by anyone, no prior experience is necessary. The sessions are short, practical and created in easy-to-manage sequences.

Session 1: What is Mindfulness?

Please bring a small food item to this session (e.g.:  a small fruit, a nut, a piece of chocolate, or a raisin).  Here, you’ll be introduced to the definition of mindfulness and then have the opportunity to experience it for yourself.

Session 2: Awakening out of Autopilot

As humans, we are often running on autopilot; going through activities in our day, without much awareness of what we are doing.  This can feel very numbing, like we are sleepwalking through life.  In this session, we will be introduced to the practice of Awareness of Breathing.  This is one way to start training our minds to be more present.  Awareness gives us choice - choice about what and how to attend to things in our lives.

Session 3: Dropping into the Body

We’ll explore another meditation practice called the Body Scan. It helps us develop presence through cultivating awareness of sensations.  When we drop our attention into the body, we will be less carried away by thoughts that so often can be unhelpful and exhausting. You’ll also experience what it feels like to be more relaxed and more comfortable in your own skin.

Session 4: Mindful Moments

Spicing our days with moments of mindfulness can help wake us up to the richness of life and help us manage difficulties with more ease. Here we are introduced to two short mini-practices that can easily be incorporated into daily life when we start feeling overwhelmed or just need time to pause.

Session 5: Mindful Walking

Mindfulness can be practiced anytime, anywhere, and in any position. It’s about being present and awake to all our experiences as we go through the day. Walking is something we do every day and the intention of walking meditation is just to walk and enjoy the walking.  The only place to arrive is in the present moment.  It’s a great way to shift away from our worries and anxieties, not thinking of the future, not thinking of the past, just enjoying the present moment.

Session 6: Cultivating Wellbeing & Happiness

Thanks to neuroplasticity, we know that happiness and wellbeing can be cultivated. Here are two practices that can help us be more awake to the pleasant, joyful and uplifting moments in our lives.
