The Hindu concept of “Prana” can be explained as the Life Energy, Life Force or Vital Principle that permeates all levels of being. The Chinese call it Qi, the Greeks called it Pneuma and the Latin root is Spiritus combining the words Spirit and Respiration. Pranayama, a Sanskrit word made up of  "Prana" and  “Yama”, is often translated as "Mastery of the Life Force" and was the first breath control tool developed many centuries ago to boost health and longevity.

Breathing is at the center of all our emotions. When we feel calm and safe our breath is deep and slow, when we are tense or anxious it is shallow and quick. But when we control the way we breathe we can also influence our emotions in the opposite direction. By learning Pranayama's simple techniques of conscious breathing, we are able to counter our fight-or-flight responses that are triggered by the various stressful situations in our day-to-day lives, and we begin to break the underlying patterns of toxic emotions that are associated with them. This has a direct and positive effect on our physical, mental, and emotional well being.

For this course, we are excited to present Rahul Autade as your instructor and guide.  Rahul started his yoga practice at the age of 16 under his Gurus Ravibhushan Kumtekar and Vishvasrao Mandlik who was honored by the Indian Prime Minister’s award in the field of yoga. He then did his Bachelor’s degree in Yogic Sciences from KKSU University in India and along the way has learned the Patanjali Yoga Sutras and other different courses from Yoga Vidya Gurukul in Nasik, India. Rahul regularly conducts workshops and while he specializes in Patanjali Yoga, he also teaches various other styles of yoga such as  Ashtanga Yoga, Hatha Yoga, Satyananda Yoga, and Power Yoga. His enthusiasm, dedication, and effective teaching style has changed lives and earned him various awards. 
He currently works with the Indian government to promote and spread awareness of yoga in Thailand and other southeast Asian countries.
